SawStop founder Steve Gass (pictured at right) was working on a project for his home when he got the idea that led to his invention of the SawStop Safety System. He knew the risks of his old table saw and didn’t want an accident to keep him from doing what he enjoyed. As a lifelong woodworker, Steve had friends who had suffered injuries while woodworking and wondered if there might be a way to prevent similar injuries. He developed the SawStop Safety System to make life-altering table saw accidents avoidable and to help fellow woodworkers enjoy their hobby without fear of injury.
